DSL (or ASDL) Problems
6 Answers
I am having trouble setting up my DSL. Just can't get it to work. Could it be because I am using a USB hub instead of plugging the USB cable directly into the back of the computer?

I have an old computer, so it does not have an Ethernet port. I plugged the telephone line and the power supply into the modem, and, since all USB ports in the back of my computer are in use, I connected the USB cable from the modem to a hub. I get a message on screen saying "Missing adapter name, Please select one from list". There is a drop-down menu, but there's nothing to choose from!...........Maybe I'll stay with dial-up:)
usb 1 or 2?
usb1 + a hub isn't a good idea 'cause you're sharing 12 Mb
My first reaction is .... it's time to upgrade your PC ..... in this case it will cost you the grand sum of 3.99
(which windows? - 95/98 could possibly need drivers ... so make sure) 2000, xp no problem
that way you have a dedicated connection

Heyyyy
no the upgrade I referred to is to fit a network card
3.99!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
your only concern is drivers ... make sure before you buy that they are included for your OS (cheaper ones sometimes aren't)
for a surf machine it's good enough
take your time look online then get a new machine when you are ready
