Concerting Avi movie files to windows movie

Evening, i know this is in the wrong section but can anyone tell me how i convert an avi movie into a windows movie file so i can burn it onto a disc,, i know i have to download a converter thingy (i think) does anyone know any good ones...thanks very much :D
