What is the difference between a laptop and a notebook or are they the same ?

For the short answer - They're the same!
yeah, they are the same. they just call it that way because of computer brands. like mac notebook so others says notebook instead of laptop.

Think notebook is the most common name.

Laptop implies that the machine can be placed in the lap while sitting. There have been some recent cases where young execs have had their family jewels burned by the heat from modern-day notebooks. Ouch.

Thanks guy's, going to get myself one this weekend.
They are meant to be different, I think the term notebook was originally used to signifiy that the laptop was smaller than a standard laptop. However manufacturers tend to just stick the name on what they fancy these days.

In essentce however they are indeed the same, it would be the last think (if you did at all) to consider when looking at them.
I'd say about �200.00
the notebook is an upmarket laptop (as in apple mac!)

bit like the difference between a dustbin man and a waste disposal engineer
oh and the difference between manure and bu**s**t
