Hi there,
It all depends on your DVD machine without knowing the make and model I can't give you a definitive answer.
Some will play avi , DIVX, and jpegs as well as mp3 and audio CDs some won't.
As Pug100 states, some DVD players may support AVI but many won't.

The file format used by commercial DVDs is VOB. So, if you want to be sure that your AVI file can be viewed using any DVD player, you need to convert it to VOB. This might do the job:

Chris
I just use Nero which converts avi to a file system which can be played on a standalone dvd player

Paul, do you create a new data DVD when burning or do you use the Video DVD option? Thanks

My DVD player is a Panasonic DVD SA-HT330 if anyone knows whether this plays AVI's?

Also Buenchico - I downloaded the converter thank you but it didn't seem to have VOB as an option to convert to - there was MPEG4 which said it was DVD movie too - would this be the one? Thanks
