I use MSN as homepage. When I click on Internet Explorer http://uk.msn.com/ appears in the address bar and MSN webpage comes up. I use McAfee web advisor and, as to be expected, it gets a green flag. However, over the past week, though I can start surfing OK ,if I leave the computer unattended for a while, the address showing on the bar has changed to www.microsoft.com/isapi/redir.dll.prd=ie&pvr=68&ar=msnhome and Site advisor indicates grey (unchecked site). The webpage shows the "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" page .When I run diagnostic I am told refer to manufacturer(HP) .I have searched the new web address on the Microsoft help site and it comes up with nothing. When pc is showing new long address there is nothing I can do to access the web even if I type in short MSN address or close down several times. I just have to shut down computer for the day and hope it is working when I come back to it many hours later. It usually is. By the way, my daughter was home from university last week and since then I have noticed that there is a stack of messenger stuff for her to look at. She has her own user password which I don't know. Might this have something to do with the problem? Is it serious or am I just paranoid because address includes the word redir.?

Just a quick fix, have you tried system restore and go back to a date wbhen th pc was behaving correctly? It's under start/ all programs/ accessories / system tools.
A system restore seems a bit drastic. Have you tried reinstalling Internet Explorer?
By the way. I wouldn't worry about the redir as it has come form the official microsoft site www.microsoft.com
