Found one web site that says
"The first thing you will need is a HD DVD capable player. No existing DVD player will be able to read a HD DVD, and there is no software or hardware upgrade that can be performed to enable HD DVD playback. Buying a new player is, therefore, the only choice if you want HD DVD playback"

> Isn't HD all a big rip off???
Well TV has always progressed.
I can remember in the early 1960s we only had black and white, and only 405 lines.
Then we got colour and we got 625 lines.
DVD gave us even more lines.
Now HD gives us even more, such as 702 lines and even up to 1080 lines.
I think what is a bif rip off is that the TV industry and pushed us all to rush out and by HD televisions, when most people have not even got the equipment to WATCH HD.
You either need Sky HD (who have very few HD channels) or a BlueRay or HD DVD player (when they are expensive and there are few DVDs available).
Most people with a HD TV are NOT watching anything in HD.
