Satellite Receptiion

has anyone experienced problems wth satellite reception durng bad weather. Since it has started snowing heavily today (Sunday 18/11/07) we have lost our Sky reception! Message on screen says "No Satellite signal Received" - both boxes.

Do not have Sky so cannot comment....

However, some freeview channels are off air:

BBC 4
BBC Parliament (no great loss there!)
BBC interactive (301 thru 305)

Lucky if it's only the snow that does this! Here the signal goes when there has been heavy rain in a sudden downpour. It comes back in a few minutes once the rain has drained off the dish a bit

Snow and heavy rain can indeed have this effect, as can some more unusual atmospheric disturbances, on both satellite and terrestrial digital signals.

All you can do is make sure your reception is as good as it can be by getting the right dish, aerial and set-top box - beyond that (or switching to cable), there is no fix.

Terrestrial channels are carried on a number of multiplexes or 'muxes', the frequency, signal strength and data compression of which may vary - that's why sometimes one group of channels is affected and not others.

We have the same problem with heavy rain and snow does this same problem happen with a freeview box

Freeview is aerial not satellite dish different frequency so not as prone to snow bad reception.

yes i have had this problen quite a lot i also find i can t get all chanells i haveto go to entertainment
