pc to tv

I have managed to connect my laptop to my tv but at the moment i can only see the desktop picture and no icons. I have worked out how to move them to my tv, by dragging them on there, but when i play a game it will only come up on my laptop screen and not on my tv screen. Am i doing anything wrong and also my pic is not very clear on my tv. Hope anyone can help me

its in the display settings.you are running it like me where it sees the tv as an extension of the main screen.i cant remember exactly where to go to make both display the same picture at the same time but i gave up with mine as it would never work.
its somewhere within the display setting on the control panel.
