Micro Systems
2 Answers
Hi - thinking of buying my daughter a micro system for Christmas but I'm a bit unsure about the output. I'm looking at a Philips MCB240 with an output of 2 x 5w. This doesn't seem very loud compared to others I've looked at - can anyone advise please? Loud enough or too quiet? Thanks.

Hi medsecslave,
5 Watts audio output is really weedy, even measured at RMS. I'd not bother with that one.
I'd try fender's suggestion and look at the Sony with 50W output, should be plenty (25W per channel as it says total power in the listing)
Try to listen to it before parting with your cash, take a well known CD along with you so you can compare how it sounds. ( not too tinny / not too bass heavy - although your daughter may like a lot of bass ). Being a Sony it'll probably be fine. Have fun shopping.
