seeing as the most expensive thing with space travel is breaking clear of earths atmosphere their is a train of thinking that believes one option is to build an elevetor that reaches the upper edge of earths atmos. thus removing the cost of the fuel - but the costs of building this would be truly off the scale not to mention one hell of a blot on the earth - so would never really be worth it imo

As space is a vacume, if there was a leak would we lose all the atmosphere ?
