help needed with choice of laptop

my freind had his leg amputated earler this year. Now whants to learn to use a PC. So he is going to buy a laptop. Adivce needed in what to buy and where from . I am checking PC World, Currys, ETC ETC . What should he look for, ie gb dvd rewrite and so on. he's only starting....many thanks

Quite frankly any bog standard laptop for around the �300 - �400 mark will be fine,
