connecting tv, sky box, vcr & dvd recorder

PLEASE HELP!!!

We've bought a new DVD recorder and I mistakenly thought it would be easy to replace the old DVD player. Wrong!

My husband thought it a good idea to unplug everything and start from scratch to connect everything.

Now we're stuck.

Please can anyone tell me how to connect all of the above so that we can record from any TV channel and also the VCR? Just to confuse things, there's a 'splitter' so that sky can be viewed from the TVs upstairs.

At the moment, we.ve no video connected and the DVD will only record from the SKY channel. We think this must be wrong!!!!

Desperate for any help at all.

generally sky to tv
everything else to sky (assuming 2 scart on each device~~~)
