s-video to tv

hi ive got one of those s-video to scart leads to attach my computer to the tv, it works fine on one tv (which is quite new) i just plug it in but i cant get it to work on another tv which is a bit older. when i plug it in nothing happens! any ideas how to make it work or is it just because the tv is too old to understand what i want it to do!!!!?!?

Sounds to me like the second TV is too old to use a pc on....
