Songs with references to friends

I am compiling a CD for my best mate full of photos of us 2, sort of a journey through our friendship and I want to put some music to it.

Does anyone know any good friend songs, that aren't soppy or cheesy?! She is more into rock ... stuff like the Foo Fighters, Chili's ... would really appreciate any help! Thanks.

Wow, thanks mormess. I am a soppy git so was aware of the Carole King and Joe Cocker songs but I think my mate would be horrified if I included those!!!! But thanks for the others - brilliant!
