windows not opening with new ram

hi i posted a question last week and i was advised to buy more ram. i have got 1gb of ram but when its installed in the pc windows wont open . its the same as the one i have replaced it with- only more memory. i previously had 256 mb. when i put the original back in again windows is fine. ps it works in another pc as we have tried it. any ideas as to what can be wrong before i send it back?? thanks.

Hi,as this memory works fine in another pc the problem would seem to be with the pc which you purchased it for.
How old is this pc & have you checked that the motherboard can support 1 GB of memory & if so can it support just a single 1GB stick .
hi... go to www.powerleap.com and download theeir small program and it will tell you exactly what memory and the available sizes that your computer will take...
