Have just tried to get sky broadband for �5 pounds (like it says on the website) but when i phoned up they said it would be �17 becuase they have to pay �13 to BT. Is this true? Has this happened to anyone else

I've just looked at their website - this is at the bottom of the page:

Subject to availability. Speeds vary with location and line quality, Standard set up is �30 for new customers joining online. BT line rental payable.</>

So yes it is true. I know I can't have Sky broadband because I don't have a landline
