Changing ISP
4 Answers
After years of Freeserve/Wanadoo/Orange as my ISP I have decided to switch to Sky but need a little advice from you guys.
I have my Sky router and have been told my service should be activated on 31st Jan (in 3 days time). Until then I am still on Orange, via a 3Com router.
Before I insert the installation CD and connect the router I am told I must delete my existing ISP (Orange) but I am not sure how I go about doing this so your help is much needed. Many thanks....Telboy

With your installation package you should have been given a "Technical Support" phone number. Usually the installation support is free (as they don't want to scare you off).
Give them a call, and if Sky are like my bunch, don't change anything, until, you and sky are both ready to complete the installtion. It is a leap-of-faith when you unplug and uninstall you old ISP.............Then the pressure is on to 'make' the new ISP work...............and you are never really 100% sure the new ISP S/W is going to run, on your PC

Thanks Old Salt.....I'm still not sure what it meant "delete existing ISP...Do they mean just disconnect from incoming BT line and your existing router or is there a hidden file on my PC I need to delete?
Also you didn't give me your advice on how I use my two existing e-mail addresses i.e. my domain address :- [email protected] and my Orange address [email protected] when I move to Sky ISP.
Thanks...Telboy

You didn't ask about email in your original question.
Your domain will be used the same as usual - it is separate to your ISP.
Your freeserve address should also be okay as it is a 'free' email account available to everybody.
Delete ISP is simply removing any Orange software you have on your computer. I shouldn't worry about it.
