Dodgy Broadband When Someone Uses The Phone

In the last few days our Internet connection seems to be going haywire when somebody uses the house phone. As far as I am aware, it is still working perfectly fine when no-one is on the phone. After huge problems connecting via an ADSL modem, we finally solved them when we got a Netgear DG834G Modem Router. It has been working really well for about 5 months.
Does anyone have any ideas at all why it might have suddenly started not working properly when the phone is in use? I have tried changing the filter that the phone is plugged into, but still having the same problems.

get the line tested
the majority of problems are due either to external faults
(it's been wet, windy, cold - everything you need to make a fault!)
or internal .. crushed cable (under door ... condensation on window ledge) incorrectly terminated extension.
the best thing you can try is connect phone and router to point where line enters house.
then move round the sockets try every combination (it's a pain .....

squarebear is right about the filters.
If the rest of the wire is disconnected ...and the problem persists it does indicate a line fault (if you are with BT you can report a fault .... the system will test the line (disconnect the inside first) .... and then, depending what it finds either confirm ... or cancel - either way you get the line tested which may just save you time)
