I was given a new DVD Player less than a year ago which i have only used about 15 times. Every time i try to play a film it says 'No Disc' and i cannot hear anything working. I have tried different discs, checked the plug, connections etc and they all seem fine. It just won't read the disc. Has anyone got any ideas why it won't work??

Is it a specific movie, or a CD or DVD copy, or all movies?
What make is it then?
we had this problem with a DVD player/ recorder. We took it back under guarantee and it turned out that the head needed replacing. The chap in the shop said that sometimes, they just are faulty and need replacing...since then, absolutely fine and no probs
You may as well ditch it! You can get them for 30 quid in Argos!

It's a Goodmans player and it does it with all movies. Unfortunately my sister lost the receipt (typical) so they won't replace it! But as you say i suspect the head does need replacing. Thanks anyway, looks like that one is in the bin....from now on i'm keeping all receipts for a year!
Have you tried a lens cleaner ?
Question Author
GMC, I tried a lens cleaner but still no luck! I think the bin is the next option.
GOODMANS! I remember my Grandad saying "You get what you pay for"
