unwanted emails
11 Answers
i have been getting some unwanted emails, they always change the name of the person from whom they came( so junk mail won't catch them)The subject matter has become rather unpleasant. Does anyone else get these mails?and is there anyway that i can stop them. At the moment i just delete them but am getting rather tired of receiving them. How have they got my mail address??
The names that these people use are just jumbled up nonsense.
What is the point in these unpleasant mails.

Get a better spam filter (they can be free).
Use Gmail for your email, which has a far better spam filter than the email address your ISP will give you.
Or use something like Mailwasher, if you use Outlook too.
(I'd advise you to use Gmail.)

I have worked for companies and they tend to get through. I was totally fed up with emails pretending to have money tied up and want money to release it type emails. I got one everyday and everyone had a different sender address. I cmplained to IT at work and they still couldn't stop them coming. Just delete them.
Really annoying but maybe get another email address. I have two email addresses one that I set up on hotmail once and one that my provider gives.

Thankyou again all for your replies.
I have had the ones about people wanting money for investments but the ones over the last few months have been rather explcit in their title and I do find this upsetting.
i shall just continue to delete without opening an hope they will give up.I really can't see what these people gain from sending these mails.

I have a fairly public email address (or certainly used to be), and get about 150 mails a day.
Here's a good tip to stop them:
Goto gmail.com, set up a free gmail address.
Gmail can collect mail from other email addresses (such as your current one), and it'll then apply its own spam filters to your mail. So you can then use Gmail, still acting as your current email address.
Make sense?
That way, you won't have to inform anyone of your new address, and you'll still get email. Just the filters will move most spam into the spam folder, which you can check once every few weeks.
