I'm having a senior moment here and can't remember how to colour a cell automatically depending on the text in that cell. I'm creating a holiday sheet and want to see easily who's off and when by the colour of the cell after I've put their name in the cell. Any help appreciated thanks

Highlight the cell range that you wish the formatting to apply to

From the Format drop-down menu select Conditional Formatting

Fill the boxes with Cell Value Is (box1) not equal to (box2) 0 (box3)

Click the Format Button, Select the Patterns tab, and select a colour.

This will have the effect of colouring any cells in your range that you type into.
