Removing Office 97 without the disks
I've just installed Office Home and Student on my laptop and my OH's laptops. On mine it's uninstalled the copy of Office that was on it but it has left Office 97 on my partner's laptop. When I try touninstall the program Office 97 from his laptop the computer asked for the installation disk 1 which was long ago lost!
How can I uninstall the Office 97 programs without the disk?

As long as your new Office works OK I dont think there is a problem with you leaving Office 97 on there.
Any attempt to remove Office 97 by deleting files and folders manually could cause all sorts of problems as Office makes many changes to Windows under the covers which may cause errors if you try to delete Office 97.
If your new Office works just leave Office97 on there.

this just might work
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/176823
might not ... but you have nothing to loose.
also ... office is notoriously bad for overwriting older versions ... you could well be OK just deleting stuff - reasonably safe that the settings are gone anyhow.
a safer way is to rename the folders (just add del_ to each one ... give it a week or so ... and if nothing happens ... just search and destroy all folders starting with del_ )
if windows complains ... just remove del_

It was this one: http://office.microsoft.com/en-gb/help/HA01136 2891033.aspx
It then directs you to the Office Resource Kit whichyou can download and use instead of the installation Cd. Seemed to work!
