Receive mail in yahoo email account - not my email address

I tend to get a lot of spam emails in my yahoo email account, half of them are not even for my email address, any idea why I am receiveing these and if I could stop them somehow.

Unfortunately, you are on a spammer's email list. These lists can be valuable and so spammer's don't tend to list everyone they mail to.

What they do is to pick one of them for the "To" field then put the rest into the "Bcc" part of the mail.

There's not a great deal you can do apart from delete them and be careful where you put your email address on the net.
