depends on what service you have and what equipment you are using.

Broadband with router: no
Brroadband with modem: yes
Dial up: yes

I have broadband router.

In that case, once you're logged on, you should not need to do it again, unless the router is switched off, or it is disconnected from the phone line.

Switching off or re-booting the PC should not log you off.
