TV has sound but no picture

My 7 year old Hitachi TV has started to develop the problem of having sound but no picture until gently tapped or moved, then the picture comes back (though sometimes goes again until the above is repeated). Is this an easy fix, an expensive techie job or time for a new tv? Thank you

when you say no picture do you mean just noise on the screen or that the screen is just black?

The screen shows nothing after showing the AV part n the corner, just black. Sound is perfect. Thk you for answering

That happened to my mitsubishi tv, just before the tube died.

However, yours is showing the AV symbol/letters? Your aerial /sky scart could be working loose - try taking it out and plugging it back in again.

do you have a local mender who works cheap and will give an honest estimate?

a 7 year old telly is a catch 22 ... young enough to still be worth hanging on to .... old enough to justify a change without looking extravagant.

It could be any part of the bits that deliver the picture .... whatever it is ... sounds to be loose ... that could be a connector (most likely) ... or it could be a component on the board.

trouble is ... tellys can bite .... and they have big teeth ... opening the back can be dangerous if you are unfamiliar.

Thanks for all yr answers. Will persevere until my wife or children complain that the tv doesnt work and that will be my excuse to get a new one! Thankfully it is the tv in the 'spare' room. Cheers one and all.
