xp home faxing

What do I need to fax in Windows XP. And can I fax to someone that has a fax machine if I do not have a fax machine. I know I don't know at this point, so stupid I am!

a fax machine is just a scanner and printer with a phoneline attached. do you have a scanner? if so, yes you can fax to a fax machine or another PC. why not click Start...Help and Support, and search for 'fax'. that will explain how to do it. Alternatively, your scanner may have come with a fax application.
