Deleting pictures.

I'm trying to move some pictures on my computer into the recycle bin, however when I try it says 'The action can't be completed because the file is open in another program'. I don't have the pictures in another program, how do I delete them? Thanks.

did you have them open since booting up the PC? maybe something is still running in the background and using the pics.
try re-booting and try to delete them again? or go to task manager and see which programmes are running.

Hey weeal, my PC is on all the time. I saved a couple of pictures onto the computer, added them to an email, and now want to delete them, but can't.
How do I find the task manager? Sorry, I'm so simple with computers, don't understand anything!!

To see whats running in the task manager hold down BOTH the ALT + CTRL keys together and press DELETE

You will see a box pop up with the progs that are running, to exit the task manager just close it with the red cross top right.

If none of the programmes running are ones which look like theyre using pictures, I would suggest closing down the PC and re-starting it.

I never leave my PC switched on if Im not using it, mostly because a plumber -whilst I was at work- went onto my PC and went through all my pics and docs. I have had to slap a password on it now just to get in myself !

Well it's my nans computer really, and she suffers from insomnia, so keeps it on all the time to save time with loading it at night. I know she shouldn't leave it on, but she always has done. Hopefully it doesn't blow up!!! Thats disgraceful that someone went through your folders! Anyway, I've reset it and they deleted now. Thanks weeal - x
