I was thinking of upgrading my old sky box to sky+ box. has any body done this before? is it just a straight swop or is a whole rewiring of the sky system required?

Your dish will have to be rewired. Apparently it needs to have some sort of dual wiring so you can watch one Sky channel while recording another (or record two programmes simultaneously). I recently upgraded from sky to SkyHD, which is more or less the same as Sky+ except it has HD.

Hope this helps.

thanks
I've just upgraded from standard sky to sky+ and thanks to advice from cowboy I got the whole lot for free. It means a new box, new wiring and a new dish - normally 149! Just tell Sky that you are thinking of leaving them as BT and Virgin are offering recordable boxes for free - Sky should then match the deal in order to keep you as a customer - try it, it worked for me!

thanks currob, i may look into that.
It isn't a long job. About 15mins at most. It's excellent.
I did the the same as Currob and got a free upgrade as well.
Its definitely worth upgrading.
