I need to buy a pager for our office, can anyone explain how they work? Do you have to have a contract like with mobile phones, or do you just use them independently? Also, any ideas on where to get one would be useful.

I can't imagine why you want such outdated and old-fashioned technology.

However, these are 11 a month

Or you can buy one here for 21 but check how much the quarterly bill is before buying:

Why are they outdated? We need to be able to contact a member of staff when they are away from their desk. What else would you suggest?
how about one of those new fangled phone things?
all that vibrating and texting ..... and I hear you can talk to them as well.

a pay as you go - you only need let it ring a couple of times ... then whoever is carrying it could get to a phone and ring in to see what's needed. ;-D
