how do i go wireless??

i just got done re-setting up my belkin router to my laptop, that uses windows vista. however, when i unplug the router cable from the laptop, i lose my internet connection. how do i make the connection actually wireless? i had it before, but i forgot my passkey, & had to reset my router settings. do i enable my wireless network connection? i'm so confused. any help would be great! thanks.

Simple things first.

Have you got the wireless function switched on on both the laptop and the router?
