Flickr site down?

Flickr's been dodgy since Monday but now appears to have crashed altogether. Can anyone confirm its status?

I just heard from someone there I emailed a number of people had it jamming as I did but it suddenly started working soon after.
That could have been when they were fixing it while it wasn't on at all around 2pm UK time.

It did go down a few days ago -- around 22nd April.

And it may have somehow taken a few days for your DNS to get updated (for some strange reason).

Still, I think it's most likely that your ISP was doing something odd, perhaps with the DNS servers.

It worked perfectly again till this afternoon and has now been off since 2. They must have some major trouble at that end although it seems to be different for each person. I hope they actually give a statement so we know what to expect.

Update for Pug- it seems if you do go through the homepage link it bypasses the glitch (although some functions may be intermittent)- thanks for the tip!

It works perfectly still, so it's not Flickr.

A site of that proportion won't be down for very long without some major outage, which you would hear about in the news.

Try doing this:

Change your DNS settings to OpenDNS from your ISP's. It's free, and can actually speed up your web browsing. It also might fix your problem.

(Just change the 208.x stuff, don't bother registering and all that.)

Failing that, what link is it that fails for you, if the homepage works ok?

Thanks fo3nix, I'll try that. It's my own album link www.flickr.com/photos/satguru that's been unable to connect for nearly a week now, but once I link through the homepage I can do everything.
Prior to that most functions barely worked for a couple of days but hopefully that tweak will let me link directly as well.

That link works perfectly fine with me, so it's not Flickr.

Anyway, see if the openDNS thing works. If not, you can always revert back if you want, it won't affect anything.

If it still doesn't work, you could take a look at your hosts file, but we'll leave that for later.
