Replaced it with a quieter one obviously.
no

I suppose it depends if it's one of the standard PC 12v fans ... or some custom size or voltage
http://www.quietpc.com/gb-en-gbp/products/case fans
has a fair range .....
nope not in DVD recorder, changed one in my pro-logic amp though, It was a standard PC cooling fan.

AC's link will let you find the fan, on the one I done the power lead was soldered onto the board so I had to get soldering iron out, but at a push as it's only 5v or 12v you could cut and twist the wires together (soldering would be far far far better though!)
Good point marky

if you have to cut to remove .... make sure you cut near to the old fan .... and close to the new connector ... leave yourself spare ...

If you have an old length of mains flex cut about .75 - 1 inch
pull the copper out and thread it over the fan leads - then either solder or twist ... slide the flex insulation over the join ...
I always find that insulation tape eventually comes off in warm cases ....
Maplins have a range of fans, take the old one out and go to the shop with it then you'll be sure to get the right one (voltage, size, quietness etc).
