Freesat & PVR
2 Answers
Hi,
I've been a happy user of Freeview for some years but have just moved to a non-Freeview area, so I'm looking at Freesat. There's no dish on the house yet but that seems easy enough to arrange. My TV is HD ready and has built in digital/analogue tuners, and I have a Bush hard disk recorder PVR, also with a digital tuner.
The question is, when I get Freesat will I be able to record on the PVR via SCART? Also, what happens with HD programmes - can they be recorded on a standard PVR via SCART, or do you just record the ordinary signal, or nothing at all??
None of the Freesat receivers I've seen seem to have recording built in so I'm mighty puzzled... any help much appreciated - thanks!

There are no Freesat PVRs at present but Humax have promised one later this year (HDR-9300FS), hopefully July. I would wait for this.
Your Bush PVR may be able to record SD from the Scart, but HD is not possible.
there is only one HD channel on Freesat at the moment, so if you must have freesat now, get a cheap SD box and wait for the HDR-9300FS. You could then use the SD box in another room.
The HDR-9300FS wil possibly have dual tuners each requiring a seperate feed from the dish. Your SD box will need another, so get a Quad LNB.
