I need to convert a wav file to a midi file. But no matter how I try the midi turn out to be like crap! And also can anyone tell me how to amplify the volume of a midi file?

I have yet to find a decent sounding midi converter.....the only way to get really good midi files is get the original stuff (or copies of it).
