hi.

I currently have a package with virgin media for tv, phone and broadband internet. I am moving house in a month or so and looking on the virgin website I am moving to a non cable area therefore to stay with them I would need to pay for a BT landline (cheapest �10 p/m) and then pay virgin for the services....bit pricy!!

I think Sky requires you to have a phone line too!

Does anyone have the internet etc without a bt line?

I believe with all new landlines, BT HAS to be the initial supplier, as they are the ones who install the phone in the first place. After that contract has finished, then you are free to move.

BT and Cable are the only real phone options in the UK

Hey! just moved house to! had same problem, came from virgin media, but new house is a new build so has no cable point it the road!

We decided to have sky, quoted them against virgin and got an awsum package! have to say.... sky is far better i have round, get to watch lost!

anyway.... We had to re connect our phone line for some reason por other it wasnt connected to teh server down the road properly, BT says it takes 2 weeks to get them to come connect a new line, so id call them soon. It costs �27 to have them put a new line in, but you get that money back from sky in a reimbursment. I'm afariad you ahve to have BT. Virgin have their own cables for their phone service, for eveything elses you have to have BT. I would recomend sky, you do have to pay line rentel, but if you call virgin, and dont tell them that you cant actually have them, get them to give you their best quote, and them uote sky against them, you should get such a low deal, line rental will be your only cost really, and you get a free wirless router! Hope this helps! i went trough exactly the same. Oh! and it takes a week for boradband to become active down a new BT phoneline, so im afraid you will have to wait a bit before you can surf the web!
