This is part of an answer OK? I use XP Prof, which is a copied version. For Microsoft to recognise it I use an XP crack prog. I have given it to others and it works fine. Trouble is, on AB I cant give it to you. Sorry. I suspect what you say about XP is true.
i wouldnt have thought that one single cd key would have a 'life' as there is no telling how often you will have to clean and reinstall xp on your systems hdd(s)
Yes and no. http://www.annoyances.org/exec/forum/winxp/1075750756 Long and the short of it, if you have a legit copy, you've nothing to worry about.
XP can only be activated once via the "Activate by direct dial" option, beyond this, you will have to choose "Activate by phone", and try to persuade MS to re-activate iy. You can change three peices of hardware per activation, BUT if you change the Motherboard the MS will NOT re-activate your XP installation.

thanks to all of u--things are a bit clearer but there seem to be so many variables--it is a legal copy i have so hopefully i should never have any problems no matter how often i may have to reinstall
