Most of you have your antivirus and firewall sorted, but this may be useful for some.

Thank you Ethel, I don't know if I was being thick but Grisoft were making it hard to ascertain if there was a free version of AVG8. The link they gave from 7.5 only mentioned the payable one.
ethel
the link appears broken ...
but surely the safest site to d/l from is the home site of the software

furry
what does it matter? ... it's the free version ... that's all you need to know.
if you look grisoft refer to it as avg free
How to install AVG 8.0 over AVG 7.x or AVG Free

you could e-mail them and complain that they should be giving away better software

AVG Free limitations
Basic protection only<b/> (comprehensive protection is available with AVG Internet Security)
Limited languages (multiple languages are available with any paid product)
No technical support (available with any paid product)
No server protection (available with Network Editions)
Not for commercial use (legal license available with any paid product)
Wow live up to your name of troll or what!.

I was only thanking Ethel and pointing out that if you used the AVG link that points out no more 7.5, they do not mention a free version of 8 at all.
"That's all you need to know" can't believe you said that !! You have just confirmed everything I ever thought (or said)
Ethel, your link worked fine for me. maybe the experts aren't all they think they are.
cam

the link still won't work for me ....
I'm no expert ... what gave you that idea? - I just have opinions
opinions are like free AVG ... you give it freely ... but there is no obligation to take it

you should always say what you mean
The link still works for me!

"That's all you need to know" isn't an opinion in my view and evidently furrycheeky agrees.

You don't "take" opinions, so in your own words "you give it freely ... but there is no obligation to take it" you are admitting it wasn't an "opinion"

I did say exactly what I meant

Consistency is the stuff of the best quality cakes, yours I'm afraid flops in the middle!
