This really stunned me! That's perhaps because I am, by and large, a bit of an arithmophobe! Having been effectively taught my times-tables over 60 years ago, I don't myself have any trouble with multiplication. However, the method here seems an ideal back-up approach for primary school children, revealing that multiplying is just a variant of adding.
Thanks for drawing my attention to it. I'll pass it on to my grandchildren.
