A very strange thing happened after I did a virus scan. My volume icon has gone missing from my taskbar at the bottom of my screen. All other icons are there and the sound works fine but at full volume. Any idea how I get it back? Many thanks
Don`t know how to get your icon back, but you could go into control panel (sounds and audio devices) and lower sound from there. Or maybe a system restore would brig your tray icon back.
Trish seems to be right. I went into control panel and made a shortcut of the sound icon to the desktop. I then dragged it to the taskbar and deleted the desktop icon. It seems to work but the sound icon is now on the bottom left instead of the bottom right, where it used to be. Oh well, I can live with that.
Hi all. Depending what system you are using and if your using a Laptop or Desktop, go to the start menu then all programs and you should find a file marked SOMETHING LIKE "soundmax" if you then go into the control panel. follow the Top tabs to general and check the box that says "show soundmask on the taskbar" that should then restore your icon.
go to control panel.
sound, speech and audio devices.
then "sounds and audio devices"
a small window will open with 5 choices of what you want to do.
go to "volume" and make sure you have a tick in the
"place volume icon in the taskbar"
:-)
Well, I did it at last.
1. I installed the sound driver from the applications and support disc that came with the computer (even though the sound was working)
2. I then went to control panel opened the sound driver icon
3. I could then put a tick in the box which reads Place volume icon in task bar
and BINGO, my icon was back in the task bar on the right hand side and it works as it did before MUTE, VOLUME SLIDER
Hope this helps
