How do you tidy your desktop on the Apple, ie on Ms you have 'My documents". Is there an equivalent on the Mac?

why don't you just create a folder called my documents on the desktop (apple + f to create a folder) and then just move everything into that to get them off your desktop
Question Author
apple + f is find a folder......anymore info for making a folder
they've changed that since I last used a MAC then :)

Shift + apple + n
Question Author
nope...that takes me to Googles web page.....anymore?
oh I give up with the keyboard shortcuts :)

click on the file menu and select new folder
hold on shift + apple + n took you to a web page...

you have to shut your browser and click on the desktop (where you want to create the folder) first.
Question Author
Nope....no way of creating a new file on 'file'. The Mac is supposed to be superior to my trusted old pc which doesn't have wifi. I can sit in the garden with this and no trails of wires.

I hate an untidy desktop though. Dont mind watching the weeds grow.....very pretty clover, daisies & dandys. Lots of interesting beetles scurrying about.....now am rambling.

Please, one more try??

But as I said make sure you have closed your browser (or minimised it and clicked on the desktop to activate that first

Wallah! That worked, ....shutting down the internet sites.....thanx; all so much tidier.

Now will tackle the weeding as my neighbour has stuck his beady nose over my plot. He's a keen gardner who mows military precision lines into his lawn. Thank goodness, he has no knowledge of computers....as yet!
Read Mac 101:

Apple's support pages are excellent.

In the dock, click the finder icon (smiley face). This is like Windows' Explorer windows. Each user has a documents folder, Photos, Music, etc.

Use the cog button to do things like add folders.
Question Author
where is the dock and cog? Did open the 101; too much reading and re-directing. Will read it when I have insomnia!
