DVD+RW or CD?

I have a DVD multi writer that can write dvd -r/rw +r/rw and ram, but for some reason when i put a rw dvd ( plus or dash) my computer tells me that it is a cd drive (all other times it tells me it is a dvd-ram drive), and i cannot burn any files to it. I have tried to use DVD burning software such as nero and astonsofts 'Deepburner' but i just get an error message. please can someone help quickly cause i have some important files to send to a friend. Thank you

try updating the Firmware for your particular drive from the manafacturers website or try searching for it.it may solve your problem but it wont do you any harm to try

yeah i have the latest firm ware and after updating to SP2 as well i know can burn DVD-RW, But +RW still doesn't work.
