Some CDs not playing on pc
5 Answers
I'm trying to rip cd tracks on to my mp3 player via my pc. This works for most CDs but isn't working for a couple of new ones I've just bought. Can CDs have something on the now that stops them being copied to my pc? When I put the CDs in the drive, it doesn't recognise that there is a disc in it.
Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated.

As for the cds not playing - that's a new one. Is it that they won't play or won't let you copy??
If you go to the properties of your drive is it ok? Sounds like your hardware needs to be tweaked - has something been turned off?

Thanks for your comments so far.
I haven't got the cd with me at the moment, so can't see if it's a sony one or not - I'll check later.
Whickerman - Because I can play/copy other cds OK in the drive, I thought the problem must be with the cd rather than the hardware. When I put this new cd in, it just doesn't recognise that there's a cd to play. I did notice however that if I went through file manager, it registered there was a disc there but listed all the tracks as unnamed 1KB files.
Interesting about the sony damages claim - as I say I'll check if it is a sony cd when I get home tonight.
Thanks again.
