We have a BT landline and are being pestered by someone calling selling something or other. I think he is Asian in origin and feel the call is from India or similar parts. No matter how many times we tell them to go forth and multiply they persist. They always agree to remove our number from 'the list' but never do. Is there a means by which they can be blocked or stopped or whatever? Any suggestions?

PS I am with TPS.

get anonymous call reject, and unless they show the number they cant call you unless it is international, most call centres dont have numbers shwon so they wont get through

Thanks Gina. Is that a facility you can opt for or buy or what?
Google Telephone Preference Service and ask them to remove your number

Sorry, just noticed that you are already registered with TPS?
Anonymous call barring is one of the option extras you can get from BT. It costs 4.00 per month, but worth it in my opinion.

Ex-directory is no good, they use auto-diallers.

I find that if you answer the phone "in the style of" an old colonel and pretend to be deaf, they soon give up. Some even hang up immediately. Maybe it gives them "Raj flashbacks" ;-) .
Sorry, I also just noticed you are with TPS so am I ,and also fiind them u/s. I had a Time Share until I sold it 4 years ago and I`m for ever getting buyers ringing me every day to see if I want to sell, I just hang-up on them.
as tichfield says you get it for 4.00 a month, ive had it for years and wouldnt be without it, it brilliant, you'll wonder what you did without it
