Have you ever won anything in a competition? I won tickets, hotel, eurostar, the works to the Rugby World Cup Final in Paris (and turned them down)! With the benefit of hind sight it was one of the worst decisions I have ever made (boy am I glad they lost). My OH didn't speak to me for a week. I was just being to practical about it, logistics, the kids etc, don't ask!
Not strictly a competition, but i won 1600 on the lotto a few weeks ago and myself and three others teamed up and won 106 on a local radio music comp.
Grasscarp - it was just a phone-in thing through the paper where you leave your name and number. When the bloke called me to say I'd won a carpenter was knocking seven bells out of the kitchen, my daughter was having a mega strop and you had to be on Eurostar at 5.30am the following day. It was just an aaahhhh, not now moment. I had to give him names of who was going rather than being able to find someone to go.
Oh dear beanebabe, that sounds awful. I really sympathise. I know people who went and were so down afterwards because of the result, so at least you were save the disappointment!
I won several times on the ITVPlay comps via website entries getting onto the live phone-in and getting the right answers . The prizes were all cash amounts .
Nothing like "I sold my soul for 50p", or anything like that.(lol)
It was when they used to have a "We Love Our Pets" page, I wrote in with a story about one of my pets. Hubby and I rescued animals for many years, so I had lots of stories to tell.
I was a bit miffed, 'cos they changed so much of it - they very nearly re-wrote it, b*ggers!
