Obviosuly the better the quality the larger the "image" size and the LESS pictures you get on a memory card.
Have you, or anyone else, recently changed the picture quality on the camera (or indeed any other setting).
Have you tried formatting the card (after remving your pictures of course). Maybe there are some pictures still on the card which have got "lost" (so they dont show up) but they are still there.
Formatting the card should get rid of any "lost" pictures.

Well getting to the formatting option varies from camera to camera. May be best to look in your documentation.
Basically you get the camera menu up on the "screen" and look for an option like "setup" or "card setup".
Somewhere there will be an option like "Format memory card" or similar. Select that and it should only take a couple of seconds.
IT DELETES EVERYTHING OFF THE CARD.
Cannt be more precise about details because each camera menu options are different.

Thank you all for your answers, when I first deleted the pics from the card I did it while linked to my pc and did it from there which obviously left some "hidden"When I went direct to the camera to delete there were some more "hidden" ones,so hopefully it is now completely empty .Only time will tell. Thanks again!!!
