unable to remove image from blogspot header

I'm starting a blog-sort-of-thing from my Google account; the URL ends with blogspot.com. I added an image to the header just to see what it looked like but it didn't look good - the text which before had been centered now huddles to the right and the image is in the middle. I wish to remove the image completely and permanently, and indeed there is such an option but when I click it ("remove image") the image is NOT removed. The previous window opens up for a split second (i.e. the edit-the-header-window where I stood when adding the image by pasting the image URL into the appropriate field) but the present window (the one with the "remove image"-option) returns quicker than quick.

I've clicked "remove image" thirty times or so... What's wrong and how can I solve it? I don't really think I'm doing it wrong in the first place, I just don't know how to work around their problems...
