I have lost the tool bar at the top of the screen and therefore cannot shut down the computer, what do I do please.

Point anywhere in a blank space at the top of your screen where the other toolbars are.
Right click and you will get a popup menu.
There should be the checkmark missing next to your standard toolbar.
Click on it and the toolbar should be back.

Press F11 - it should bring the top tool bar back

move you mouse pointer right to the bottom of the screen and if it turns into a double arrow then click and hold down the left mouse button and move the mouse up slightly to drag it back onto the screen

hmmm... I may have misread the question... I thought you meant the bar with the start button on it :)

thats ok ChuckFickens, I will get better with more practice, tend to panic when I press the wrong buttons. Sorry to be a nuisance and thanks for the help.
