Ram is your computer's memory: - how much information it can "remember" at any one time.
You can buy more RAM, its about the cheapest upgrade you can get for a computer, the part itself will probably cost something around 20 online: see if a geeky friend will fit it for you.
Im guessing "avl" was simply an abbreviation fo available, so your computer was complaining it didnt have much RAM free to remember stuff with.
You could also try to give your computer less to remember, by running less programs at once. This can mean having less windows open, or by getting rid of some of the programs that have icons at the bottom-right of the screen. Don't get rid of your antivirus program, or anything that looks important though!
