Connecting two computers to one broadband service

Sorry to try your patience, folks. I'm sure this must have been asked before but I can't find it in the list of previous questions.
Can I connect two computers to one broadband service?

The answer is yes you can, provided you have a router or modem / router. There should be a number of sockets on the back to connect the relevant cables. Some are even wireless so you don't need to run cabling across your house. There are two distinct types depending on wether your broadband is supplied via a phone line or cable

I have a PC and a laptop, the PC is plugged into the router and the laptop just roams around the house with me, there are quite a few sockets at the back of the router I think 3 or 4.

So, assuming you have a network port on your laptop, you can just plug it into one of the available ports on the back of the router, and away y'go.
If your router is wireless (it will have an aerial!) then:
If your laptop is wifi enabled you can connect using the built-in adaptor, if not, you will need to get a USB wireless dongle for it.

Some routers are setup to prevent a second connection.

In this case you run proxy software on one which relays the connection to the other.
