Just installed a Netgear DG834G router today (it only took me 5 hours) but i've noticed that the router gets quite hot - is this normal?
and should I unplug it when i'm not on the internet or should i leave it plugged in all the time?

I have had the self same router for over a year.
Mine does indeed get rather hot.Just make sure it's on a flet hard surface to aid ventilation.
My pc and router is on from morning until bedtime with no ill effects.
I have had the same for quite a while (maybe 2 years?).

Min is left on 24 / 7 with no illeffects.

Thanks guys - I've just found the two plastic "feet" in the netgear box and the router seems to be cooler when not resting flat on a surface.
Yea, make sure there's a gap of a few inches around it ideally, not sandwiched between other stuff.
My cat loves my heated Netgear router that much he sleeps on it....
